Concrete Lifting has many terms such as concrete lifting, concrete raising, foam lifting, foam jacking, and poly jacking.
The original method of lifting concrete used to be mud jacking which involved drilling a hole 1-3 inches in size to pump “mud” or sand-concrete under high-pressure under the sunken concrete. This method has been around for decades, and served well for the technology at the time.
There were some hazards that came with mud jacking such as the pressure the mud was under, water erosion and risks of cracking the concrete. Cosmetically, large hole patches in your concrete were not always welcomed, especially on driveways and walkways.
Today, concrete levelling experts use polyurethane expanding foam to lift the concrete. This method is safe, environmentally friendly, provides soil stability, and can be applied in a control manner to provide a precise lift and mitigate risk of cracking concrete.
Foam jacking involves boring a small hole in the concrete, approximately the size of a dime – which can easily be filled with some sand, concrete mix, and matching surface sand to help blend the hole into the existing concrete. This makes it perfect for high visibility areas such as porches, stairs, and concrete pathways.
Once the hole is drilled, a small injector nozzle is tapped into the hole, then the spray foam gun is attached to the nozzle and given controlled amounts of foam, allowing it time to expand and slowly move into place – reducing cracking and over-lifting.
Most times, but not always, concrete will sink due to poorly compacted earthwork, water erosion, or less than efficient water management systems. Eavestrough down-spouts that drain near concrete structures or leaf-logged gutters can leak over water over areas that were not meant to handle excess water. Another common cause is the natural movement of earth, and seasonal freeze-thaw of moisture in the ground over many years.
Foam is perfect for soil stabilization because it’s eco-friendly, naturally waterproof, and can last over a lifetime when shielded from UV light. When the foam expands, it fills the void, enters little cracks, and begins lifting the concrete to the desired height once there is no place else to go.

Concrete levelling in Leduc is a relatively quick process for most customers. Some sunken concrete can create more complicated lifts like needing multiple holes drilled to lift different sections at a time to prevent cracking. In some cases light excavation may be needed around the slab before being lifted so a hydraulic jack or mechanical farm jack can be used to assist the slab into place.
No matter the circumstance we have the tools, equipment, and foam technology to restore your concrete to the right spot. Reach out today and get a Free Quote!

Yes concrete lifting using polyurethane foam is safe, and is safe for the ground by preventing soil erosion. Mudjacking poses higher risks than foamjacking.
The time it takes to lift concrete depends on the area needing lifted, overall foam lifting can be done in a day and walked on within minutes.
No foam will not settle over time. Its high compressive strength often comes from 2lbs or 3lbs polyurethane – similar to under slab foam board.
