The Best Polyurethane Insulation For Leduc

Generally polyurethane foam comes in 2 types, open cell spray foam and closed cell spray foam. Each has it’s use case, but although they are both foam, closed cell is more common in thermal applications.

Open Cell Spray Foam Insulation

Open cell foam is commonly used to fill voids and cracks. A good example would be window foam seen in cans or the 2-part foam seen in propane tanks. In southern climates spray foam companies will use this type of foam, typically called half-pound spray foam.

Closed Cell Spray Foam Insulation

The cell structure of closed cell spray foam under the microscope would resemble a bundle of dish soap bubbles in a sink. In open cell foam it would be the converse, and look like a spiderweb with air being able to move freely between most cells. The bubbles in closed cell act as insulators keeping the air trapped and reducing the ability for heat to transfer from one to another.

Our Spray Foam of Choice

While there are many spray foam options, ours is specially formulated for Canadian winters. It has an R-value of 5.7 or an RSI rating of 1.003 per inch, and has a Long Term Thermal Resistance that becomes more efficient as the temperature drops – exceeding ATSM and Canadian building code requirements.

Being a 2lbs high-density foam, generally all that is needed in walls is 2 inches of foam. No vapour or air barrier is needed because of being closed cell foam – it naturally creates its own seal and barrier.

We chose this foam for our customers to ensure we deliver the best product on the market and to make home owners paychecks go further and business owners margins widen.

Polyurethane Solutions

Our Leduc Spray Foam Services

We use spray foam in many different applications and buildings.

Floor Insulation

Floor insulation is generally seen on subfloors which is built on top of a slab. Using spray foam in sub floors can help keep the cold off your feet and increase your thermal efficiency by reducing the heat loss into the cold cement below.

Wall Spray Foam Insulation

Spray foam is used a lot in wall insulation. It combines two tasks into one by becoming the air-vapour barrier and the insulation all-in-one. It’s ability to seal each cavity can help sure-up the framing as well.

Rim Joist Insulation

Rim joists can be overlooked, make sure yours are insulated. Polyurethane spray insulation is the perfect choice to seal all those small openings and voids to reduce drafts.

Basement & Crawl Space Spray Foam

Using spray foam in basements and crawl spaces is much more efficient than using traditional insulation because you typically only need 2 inches of insulation which allows for more floor space for living and storage.

Interior & Acoustic Insulation

Using polyurethane for interior insulation is a great sound insulator. It can help reduce noise between rooms and help keep individual rooms at the temperature you set.

Attic & Roof Spray Foam Insulation

Insulation in your attic or roof is the most critical spot for energy investment. That’s why we recommend spray foam to seal and keep as much of that heat in your home as possible.

Insulation Fire-Proofing

Spray foam is a flammable material, just like the wood in your home or building. That’s why gypsum board or metal or fire-proofing paint coatings are needed. If your foam is going to be exposed it needs to be covered by a fire-proofing product.

A great use-case would be applying DC-315 foam fire-proofing paint over spray foam when being covered by a wood exterior.
